Ever The Essence - The Evanescence Experience

When the band Evanescence emerged with their unique hard rock/alternative metal sound, they captivated millions.  Ever The Essence is comprised of highly-experienced musicians who have teamed up to form an exciting new tribute to the original band.  They are passionate about this music and have re-created the look and the sound of Evanescence in order to deliver the most realistic experience possible. 

 

Pulling hits from multiple albums, the band has included powerful, hard-driving rock songs as well as a few hauntingly beautiful ballads to create a set list that is a striking representation of Evanescence's live shows.  The results are unlike anything you've heard in a tribute and an exceptional night of entertainment awaits.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Kristy has studied music since childhood.  She studied vocal music through elementary, middle and high school, and then went on to study vocal performance at Stephen F. Austin State University on a vocal scholarship.  Years of formal training and performance experience has given her the ability to handle the power and range of extremely demanding vocal roles.  In this new project, she is taking on the challenge to emulate the soaring, pure vocal tone of Amy Lee.   

 

Kristy has a performance history that spans every music genre, including pop, country, jazz, blues and rock.  She has performed with a number of bands and projects in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and abroad.  She is a senior Vocal Instructor at DallasVoiceCoach.com.  A natural-born performer, she is also the lead vocalist for the Dallas-area cover band, Burning Sky, and performs as "Ann Wilson" in the top-ranking Heart tribute, Even It Up - The Ultimate Heart Tribute Band.

Phil is originally from Shreveport, LA. He was a regular on stage starting at the age of 16 and hasn’t looked back since. His early years were spent with one of the pioneering Christian rock bands of the early 80’s, Philadelphia. The band recorded 2 records and toured the midwest and east coast in the mid 80’s. By the late 80’s he moved on to the west coast music scene of Los Angeles performing in bands and doing session work for aspiring song-writers and solo artists.

 

In the 90’s he relocated to the Live Music Capital of the World:  Austin, TX. Over the years he has performed in many different original and cover bands playing a mix of rock, funk, blues and even a country lick or two when needed.

 

In 2016 Phil found himself reunited with his band mates of old in Philadelphia to record a 3rd album and hasn't slowed down since. Phil has worked with a number of bands in the D/FW area and currently plays lead guitar for Red Dirt Outlaws as well as lead guitar for Even It Up - The Ultimate Heart Tribute Band

Glenn Johnson - Rhythm Guitar, Keys, Vox

Glenn is a has the talent to bring many different elements to this project.  Known locally in the music scene as "The Jack of All Trades", you will see him featured on electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals.  Glenn has the rare ability to play multiple instruments and sing extremely well, which allows us to feature him in many different ways in this project.  

Glenn has a long history with music and has covered everything from classical music with the Ft. Worth Youth Orchestra to extensive experience with a number of rock bands since the 80s including Holland, Script, QSL and Rockit Science.  Glenn's tastes in music are extremely diverse, but he's particularly got an affinity for progressive rock.  His musical style has been influenced by bands like Rush, Dream Theater and Yes.  Glenn also handles guitar, keyboards and vocals for the Dallas-area cover band, Burning Sky, as well as Even It Up - The Ultimate Heart Tribute Band. 

Amer Khan - Bass

Born in London, Amer moved to Richardson, Texas at the age of 5.  He originally set his sights on being a drummer, but his experience with elementary percussion made it clear that he needed a different path.  It was around that time that Amer discovered AC/DC and was immediately hooked on rock.  A group of friends suggested forming a band, and since his younger brother played guitar, he decided that he wanted to conquer something different and went forward with the bass. 
 
From the age of 16, influenced by bands like Rush, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Journey and Iron Maiden, Amer has found that bass is his passion.  He handles a diverse range of musical genres with incredible skill and precision.  Amer has worked with a number of bands over the years and is currently also the bass player for the Dallas-based cover band, Gen X.  
Tommy Gunn - Drums
TOMMY GUNN - DRUMS

Tommy is a native of New Orleans, born and raised, where he started playing drums at 7 years of age and began performing professionally at the age of 16.  Desiring to sharpen his skills, he played in his high school drum line and competed as a member of the Drum & Bugle Corp, winning the International Class Competition.  He went on to study music theory at LSU, where he also performed in percussion ensemble.  Tommy has played in various notorious bands nationwide for over 35 years, sharing the stage with many talented, renowned musicians.  

 

After recently moving to Texas, Tommy joined the DFW music scene by playing with several local tribute bands and serving on his church's worship team.  Tommy's percussion persona was designed by taking his favorite attributes from musical influences John Bonham, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy, which he molded into his own unique and creative style. You can hear his appreciation for rock and blues by listening to several of his original bands, Earth Party, Bound2Sin, Rise Laveau and Fiyo Forged. Both professionally and recreationally, Tommy's diverse musical genre has included a variety of rock, heavy metal, punk, blues, jazz and Christian rock. His passion for music and drums is evident in his lively performance style.
